The Knights of Christ Tapestry

This Flemish tapestry, portraying The Knights of Christ, features medieval knights clad in armour, adorned with flags and regalia, mounted on horseback.

One of the three lower panels of the Ghent Altarpiece, also known as the Adoration of the Mystic Lamb, is a highly detailed and complex Early Flemish polyptych from the 15th century, located in St Bavo's Cathedral. It is widely accepted by art historians that Hubert designed the overall structure in the early to mid-1420s, while his younger brother Jan painted the panels between 1430 and 1432. The figures, armour, and landscape in the background are depicted with extraordinary detail. The landscape, rich in vegetation and observed with near-scientific precision, features many non-European elements. This altarpiece is celebrated as a masterpiece of European art and a global treasure.
