Cardoness Castle and Carsluith Castle Guidebook
Both Cardoness and Carsluith Castles are testaments to the differing lives of medieval nobility around the Galloway Coast.
This official souvenir guide tells the engrossing history of these two historic sites, which are a stone’s throw from each other.
Cardoness is a striking ‘tower-house’ castle which was constructed as a residence for the lawless McCulloch family. A bitter feud drove them out of Cardoness in the 1700s, with numerous McCullochs facing execution
Carsluith is of a similar construction. During its history, it passed through the Cairns, Broun and Lindsay families.
