Corgarff Castle Guidebook
Corgarff Castle is a small yet beautiful site in the Aberdeenshire moorland. The main tower still stands, although many of the outbuildings are sadly no more.
The castle was originally built as a residence for the influential Forbes family. But in 1571 an affluent member of a rival clan burned the castle with the Forbes family and servants inside.
The site was abandoned, then reoccupied after the Battle of Culloden. It was at this point that Corgarff received its star-shaped outer wall, cutting a striking appearance in the Aberdeenshire countryside.
This official souvenir guide written recounts the tumultuous history of the castle.
